As you begin your search for your next product manager role, it’s helpful to have a shortlist of the companies that are actively hiring. This allows you to narrow your search and spend your resources in the best possible way.

Before we go any further, it’s important to note that the companies that are hiring the most product managers today won’t necessarily be the same next month, next quarter, or next year.
With this in mind, let’s first examine some of the factors that have and will continue to impact hiring.
COVID -19 Pandemic
In some way, shape, or form, every company across the globe has been affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. Some companies have benefited from the pandemic, while others have found it difficult to stay afloat.
For example, many companies that specialize in productivity and remote working tools have seen an uptick in user growth and revenue since the start of the pandemic. Examples include HubSpot, Zoom, and Loom.
Companies such as Zoom — with its industry-leading video teleconferencing software program
— have benefited from the shift to full or part-time remote work. And with this growth comes the need for more product managers.
Zoom is currently hiring for multiple PM positions, such as Senior Business Systems Product Manager, Lead Product Manager, Telco International Expansion, Senior Product Manager, Zoom Apps Integrations, and Product Manager, CX Integrations.
Industry Trends

According to Statista, “in 2020, over two billion people purchased goods or services online, and during the same year, e-retail sales surpassed 4.2 trillion U.S. dollars worldwide.”
Even before the pandemic, ecommerce sales were on the rise. However, when the pandemic forced many stores to close, the need for online shopping became more important than ever before.
With the popularity of online shopping continuing to grow, it’s natural for companies in the ecommerce space to ramp up hiring. And that’s especially true of product managers.
Shopify and Amazon are two of the best examples of companies that consistently hire product managers.
Amazon, for instance, is hiring a large number of project, program, and product managers. Within the product management field, expect to find openings for positions such as:
- Sr. Manager, Product Management, Voice Shopping
- Sr. Product Manager, Amazon Distribution
- Principal Product Manager, Device Advertising
- Principal Product Manager, Supply Chain Optimization Technology, SCOT, Automated Inventory Management
- Sr. Product Manager, Donations Partnerships & Customer Experience
Industry trends can and do change often. As an aspiring product manager, stay current with these trends to help you determine which industries and companies will have the biggest need for your talent in the future.
Growth
Some companies grow fast. Some companies grow slowly. And some companies don’t grow at all. If you’re actively seeking a PM role, turn your attention to growth companies. They generally have the most openings and are actively seeking top talent.
Growth companies are generally found within fast-growing industries (see above), including but not limited to:
- Marketing automation
- Communication
- Ecommerce
- Cloud computing
- AI
- Fintech
- Crypto
- Remote productivity tools

Examples of Industries Hiring PMs
By now, you should have a better grasp of some of the factors that impact hiring. With that knowledge, let’s examine several industries in which companies are hiring a large number of product managers.
1. Food Delivery
According to Fundera, “the online food delivery industry has generated $26.5 billion in 2020.” On top of that, the food delivery industry is expected to grow to $32+ billion by 2024.
With numbers like that, it’s easy to see why companies in this space are ramping up hiring. And that includes product managers.
The major players in the food delivery space include GrubHub, DoorDash, Uber Eats, Instacart, and Postmates. Due to recent growth and future potential, don’t write off start-ups in this space. It’s a good way to get your foot in the door at a company that has the potential to make its mark in time.
DoorDash is one of the largest food delivery companies in terms of employee count, and its “career openings” page shows no sign of slowing down. For example, the company is currently hiring for a “Senior Product Manager – Delivery Execution.”
From the industry growth to the relatively large number of key players, the opportunity to secure a PM job in this category is greater than ever.
2. Crypto and Blockchain
You can’t watch the news or browse the internet without coming across a company that’s using crypto and/or the blockchain to disrupt an established industry. And with the global cryptocurrency market in the $2 trillion+ range and growing, product managers with the right experience, knowledge, and approach are in a position to join in on the action. Combine this with strong financials, and aspiring PMs in this space are in line to be paid handsomely.
More so than any other industry listed above, crypto and blockchain are seeing new entrants on nearly a daily basis. These startups are in addition to established players such as:
